This annual award is issued to the active Rockcliffe Professional Member who has distinguished him or herself over two consecutive years, through service to Rockcliffe’s Professional Community exemplifying leadership, compassion, ethics, and who has demonstrated continuous significant contribution to improving our educational standards, programs, and outreach.Â
To qualify the nominee must have distinguished themselves through a dedication to the following ideas and principles.
Service to the Profession
- Active participation in planning or coordinating Rockcliffe Professional Service opportunities
Service to the Community
- Active participation in general service opportunities to the benefit of both professional and community members;
- Demonstrate a willingness to mentor volunteers and other members of the public; and
- Promotion of educational best practices related to Rockcliffe activities and events through social media and other information sharing opportunities.
Exemplification of Principles and Ethics
- Is passionate about Rockcliffe’s causes as integral to their own personal meaning.
- Exemplifies consistency of thoughts and actions based on values and personal integrity.
- Is compassionate towards others in their pursuit of service and the promotion of a positive learning environment.
Inclusion Criteria
Those wishing to apply to this award may do so if they meet the following inclusion criteria:
- Nominees can self-apply or may be nominated by someone else
- Nominees need not currently hold a professional position and may be retired
- Nominees should be a full Professional Member of Rockcliffe for at least 12 consecutive months prior to applying or being nominated for the award
- Nominee will have made significant contributions towards Rockcliffe’s Professional Service Opportunities, of at least 80 hours (4 hrs/month on average) over two years
- Nominee will have made significant contributions towards Rockcliffe’s General Service Opportunities, of at least 40 hours (2 hrs/month on average) over two years
- Nominee will have demonstrated commitment to the community through sharing of their experiences at Rockcliffe through forums, or social media
- Nominee will have exemplified the principles and ethics of Rockcliffe’s causes through thoughts, actions, and service
Exclusions
Individuals are ineligible for nomination if they fit any of the criteria below:
- The individual is not a Rockcliffe Professional Member in good standing;
- The individual has been previously awarded the Professional Service Award within the past 5 years;
- The individual has not been engaged with their community of practice for more than 6 months;
- The individual is unable to attend the Rockcliffe Annual Conference, in person;
- The individual is a member of the Rockcliffe Management Team
- The individual is a member of the Professional Award Review Committee
Nomination Process
The award is given out each year at the Rockcliffe Annual Conference (RUCC).
Nominations open August 1, 2018 for the period of September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018. Nominations close August 31, 2018.
What follows is a breakdown of the criteria and the supporting evidence that needs to be submitted with each nomination.
Evaluation Criteria
Professional Service
- Nominee will have made significant contributions towards Rockcliffe’s Professional Service Opportunities, of at least 80 hours (4 hrs/month on average) over two years, including to one or more of the following Rockcliffe’s primary goals of
Supporting Evidence
- Personal description of activities and an approximation of hours spent on each, including time on task for meetings, development, planning, enacting and other related professional service activities for any of the given primary goals.
General Service
Nominee will have made significant contributions towards Rockcliffe’s General Service Opportunities, of at least 40 hours (2 hrs/month on average) over two years, including:
- Volunteering at Conferences or on Service Committees
- Content Contributor
- Best Practices
- Game Design (Mesh, Graphics)
- In-World Mentoring
- Peer Reviewers
- Program Code
- Social Media Moderator (Forums), and/or
- Video Editing
Supporting Evidence
Personal description of activities and an approximation of hours spent on each, including time on task for meetings, development, planning, enacting and other related general service activities for any of the given primary goals.
